I am working on 2...

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 29, 2008, 12:20 PM
...stories because I can't sit still long enough to finish either one of them.

One of them is a story that was inspired by a cheesy prompt. Cheesy or not, it got me writing and that's all that matters, I think. Anyway, it's that thing that I was working on when I wrote my last journal. The one with Mr. Merriweather.

The other one is something that I've had on the back-burner for quite a long time. It's evolved from a short, choppy piece about a hit-man to a longer (unfinished) piece with two story-lines that are supposed to...well, I suppose I shouldn't ruin the ending even though I'm not quite there yet. I just finished the first section. It is rough, rugged and unpolished (like how I like my men). I'm debating on posting it...

Well, anyway, I'm not working tomorrow and so my goal is to write and edit all day tomorrow and post something by the end of the day. If I get my butt in gear, I could probably post something tonight but I wouldn't hold my breath. I've been lazy lately.

Hehe, I've just been busy. I've been student teaching since the beginning of the year and so I've barely had time to do anything. I haven't written much but I do intend to write a lot in a few weeks when I graduate.

Haha, mine's not really that prestigious. I don't know very many people around here and can only pick from so many. :blushes:

And thank YOU for your nice comments in your journal feature! I was so excited when I read it and so happy when I saw my entry!

Aww... I'm sorry about your job. Is it just a "job"? I mean, do you like what you do? Because then, it might be worth it.

The eulogy would read something like, 'he was a good hamster, struck down in the prime of life. Sadly, he'll never make his running wheel go round and round and round... any more."

; ) I'm off to Montreal, to butcher the French language and shop!

See you in a week.
~iScribe:iconiScribe: Aug 6, 2007, 12:03:15 AM
LOL, awww! Your hamster comment is so sad, lol. I probably shouldn't be laughing while I say that. They live wonderful lives! They live it in a glass box and get let out often (and put in a little plastic bubble)... Okay, maybe they should at least be sold with flowers and a eulogy as well.

We're nice to Canadians here in WA as well! Probably because you welcome us when we come to visit and we, Washington-ians, generally visit often.

LOL! Thanks for the warning. And here I thought that chihuahuas shivered in fear. It's rage. Rage against a nation whose only contribution to fashion is the toque.

With a little origami, Paris Hilton could fit in a purse.

I'm not in favour of rodents in general, and hamsters in particular. I've often felt that, because their lives are so (mercifully?) short, pet stories ought to sell hamsters with a shoe box for the burial.

The people in LA and NYC can be a bit different. But they're friendly, especially toward Canadians. Our bumbling, overly polite act seems to be working.
~iScribe:iconiScribe: Aug 4, 2007, 11:48:52 PM
Okay, I just want to say that I just don't get the fascination with purse-sized dogs. If you really want a portable pet just get a hamster. Or put purse straps on your aquarium. Hehe, yeah, I have family in Canada. Whenever I visit (which isn't very often :( ), never really note any big differences.

Haha! I didn't even think about our politicians! I think that's our downfall. I suppose all countries have their populations of people who they just want to keep under a rock. But no one has Bush. Or Aw-nald. We're just special like that. That just happens to be a part of our plan... While you're busy laughing and pointing at our politicians, the people who really run the country (those little chihuahuas that we haul around in our purses) are planning an attack. I like you so I will warn you now. If you ever get a knock on the door and Paris Hilton is standing there wielding a pint-sized pooch, run the other way!

Hmmm.... valley girls... We have chic, up-talking, airhead chicks with purse-sized dogs. Rednecks... got those too and an abundance of mullets, toques, lumberjack jackets and other fashion accidents waiting to happen. White trash... check. Bubbles and Julian and the other Trailer Park Boys would qualify, don't you think? Walmart. We have Walmarts, IBM, GM... Economically, the US pretty much owns us. I guess when we're making fun of Americans, we're really making fun of ourselves.: )

But your politicians... We don't have anyone as lampoonable as Bush, for example, or Arnold.

I have a little SF reading group on Yahoo, which is comprised of me and mainly 5 American dudes. I also have family in the states, in LA and Washington state. My oldest brother is American. It's fun to lob national insults back and forth, (feel free to sneer at our Quebecois and Newfies), but really, we're pretty much the same.
~iScribe:iconiScribe: Aug 4, 2007, 10:39:24 AM
*acting all innocent* Aww! What is it about American culture that you make fun of? Is it the "Valley-Girl" stereotype or the rednecks and white-trash? Or maybe Walmart? Or, perhaps, our connection with Paris Hilton? Haha, yeah...nevermind, that was probably a stupid question.

And, you know, I have to admit. You, Canadians, do have some awesome comics. However, your female singers did not fool me at all! I saw the evil ploy behind that scheme! You have to get up pretty early to pull one on me...

:)

Likewise!

It's nice to turn the tables. We Canadians have been making fun of Americans for decades. It's all part of a covert mission to overthrow your country. The first step, refered to as 'let 'em die laughing', involved sending Canadian comedians and comedy writers to subvert your culture from within. We are rethinking the next part of the plan, which involved distracting you with our female singers, while we secretly bought back Louisiana, one bayou at a time.
~iScribe:iconiScribe: Aug 3, 2007, 11:28:55 PM
Haha! Well, I'm honored that you would like to keep up on what I'm writing! I have many, many Canadian friends. That's probably why I think I can make fun of Canadians so much. Because my friends give me their permission.

I like the pig for three reasons:
1. He's adorable!
2. He's funny.
3. He's an awesome "sidekick-type" character to the rat.

I want a sidekick like that. That will jumpstart and help set up my witty comments!
